The Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law (the “Institute”) has published comments on two draft instruments (1) the Draft Commission Block Exemption Regulation on Research and Development Agreements (the “Draft R&D Regulation”) and (2) the Draft Guidelines on Horizontal Cooperation Agreements (the “Draft Guidelines”). The European Commission is currently undertaking public consultation on these draft instruments.

Professor Peter K. Yu, an IP Osgoode Research Affiliate, examines the impact of external influences on the development of moral rights both in Europe and in the United States. Although there are disparities between the copyright law regimes of Europe and the United States, the biggest challenges to the future of moral rights development will arise from the evolving socio-technological environment, more specifically the Internet and other media technologies.

Kicking off a “year filled with all things intellectual property,” IP Osgoode and the IP Club held a Meet & Greet, on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Armed with refreshments and decadent treats, attendees caught up with old friends and chatted with new ones, learning about the Program’s ambitious plans for the year.

“I wish we had something like this when I was a student at Osgoode. It really is a dream come true,” exclaimed Professor Giuseppina D’Agostino, the Program’s Founder and Director, encouraging attendees to get involved.
