IP Osgoode and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada are proud to announce the winners of Canada's IP Writing Challenge:

1. Law student category - Kiernan Murphy, "Post-expiry Patent Losses: Recoverable, but Unpreventable?"

2. Graduate student category - Régine Tremblay, "La Loi sur la protection des obtentions végétales; entre compétitivité et utopie y a-t-il un avenir pour le modèle?"

3. Professional category - Anna Wilkinson, "Improper Selection: A Separate Ground of Patent Invalidity in Canada?"

We were very pleased to receive entries from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and institutions from across Canada (for example, students from 9 different law schools participated).  A broad range of subject matter was covered by the papers, including patents, copyright, traditional knowledge, new media, pharmaceutical drugs and more.    

All three winners will be receiving a prize of $1000 (CAD) and will have their articles considered for publication in the Canadian Intellectual Property Review and the Osgoode Hall Review of Law and Policy (OHRLP).
